Responsible Chemistry, Local Commitment
TS Resins has a long history of manufacturing in the UK, we first started manufacturing resins in Duxford as part of the war effort. The factory later moved to its current location in Mold, North Wales. We continue today to be a leader in Resin technology and a responsible member of the local community.
Company History
1929
Dr Norman de Bruyne started working on synthetic resins
1931
He founded the Cambridge Aircraft Company which later became Aero Research Ltd
1938
UK Air Ministry approved the use of resins in military aircraft.
1947
Working relationship with CIBA, leading to the company becoming CIBA-Geigy in 1970. Resins used in the Royal Coronation coach, ‘Comet’ (first jetliner) and ‘Bluebird’ (land speed record).
1989
Resins division sold to Dyno Industries (a Norwegian company tracing its roots to the Alfred Nobel explosives group). Company renamed Dynochem Ltd.
1995
Dynochem moved production of urea formaldehyde resins to the Synthite Ltd site in Mold, North Wales. Dynochem built a resins plant and formaldehyde plant in Cork, Eire.
1996
The company built a phenol formaldehyde plant. The companies resins were used to laminate oak beams used in the re-building of York Minster after a major fire.
2000
Dynochem was purchased by Industrie Kapital (a Scandinavian venture capital group) and merged with Neste Chemicals to form Dynea. Site renamed Dynea UK Ltd Mold.
2003
Dynea purchased the chemicals division of Perstorp. The Newton Aycliffe site becomes part of Dynea.
2013
Dynea Mold purchased by the Tennants group and becomes part of the Synthite group. Company renamed TS Resins Ltd. Dynea Cork becomes part of the Tennants group. Company renamed Marinochem Ltd.

Our journey began in 1929 with pioneering work on synthetic resins, laying the foundation for a business that has continually innovated to serve evolving industries. From the early days of supplying advanced resins for military aircraft, including the De-Havilland Mosquito, through to landmark projects such as the Royal Coronation coach and the world’s first commercial jetliner, our materials have been part of engineering and design breakthroughs.
By the 1970s, our operations were integrated with leading chemical groups, expanding our reach and expertise in resin development. The late 1980s marked a new chapter, with our resins division acquired by Dyno Industries, linking our story to the heritage of Alfred Nobel’s industrial innovation.
During the 1990s and 2000s, major investments in production facilities across the UK and Ireland cemented our role as a trusted supplier to construction, industrial, and specialist manufacturing sectors. Notable milestones included supplying resins for the restoration of York Minster after a devastating fire, and the expansion of production capacity to meet growing UK demand.
In 2013, the company became part of Tennants Consolidated Ltd, a UK family-owned chemical businesses. Since then, we have operated successfully as TS Resins Ltd, combining the strength of an international network with the agility to serve niche markets.
Today, TS Resins supplies innovative resin solutions, slow release sustainable fertilisers, wood adhesives, and toll manufacturing services. Our long-standing history provides assurance to customers: we are not only experienced, but committed to delivering solutions that support performance, reliability, and sustainability.
